The River

Yesterday, my friend Regina and I went for a walk to one of our favorite, secret spots. We've been walking and talking together since Griffin and Rosie were little pups and have probably walked hundreds of miles together. We discovered this park a few years ago and it really is a gem...most days we are the only ones down there and it is definitely Griffins all time # 1 on his top 10 list of best walks ever!

The rosehips are beautiful this time of year.

Waiting for the stick throwing to commence...

This park was the result of a deal with the developers who put in a suburb across the road. They had to allow so much land on the river side as parkland in order to get the land for the hundreds of cheap houses they put up known as The Sunriver Development. Thank goodness they had to at least preserve some of the beauty along the Sooke river and saved a few ancient trees along the way. There is one HUGE western red cedar that stands all alone in its greatness. It must be at least 400 or 500 years old.

After the dogs swim their hearts out, they love to run in the fields...We always said this would be a perfect spot for a little old farm house beside the big maple tree...of course there would be a tire swing too!

                                                   HAPPY DAYS!
